What Is ArcWorkbench?

ArcWorkbench is a methodology and software product for organisations involved with undertaking Business Transformation projects, in both public and private business environments. It provides a controlled environment for undertaking such projects across their complete life cycle, including:

  • Reviewing and analysing the current Business Process Model
  • Developing strategies for undertaking Business Processes and using systems in the future
  • Redesigning Business Processes to be undertaken in-house
  • Implementing new Business Process designs, and supporting systems, into the organisation

Key Features include:

Branding. All major organisations involved with conducting Business Transformation projects will have their own proprietary methodologies. ArcWorkbench doesn't seek to replace these methodologies, but rather to enhance them. It does this not only by providing a number of business analysis and project control techniques, but also by enabling re-branding of the base ArcWorkbench product to dovetail to these methodologies in terms of their recognised project phases, terminology and the design of standard project documentation and deliverables - all of which can be configured easily to ArcWorkbench.

Client Involvement. ArcWorkbench encourages greater hands-on involvement from the client organisation, through its concept of Delphi Users. Delphi Users are client managers and staff who have access to a number of ArcWorkbench applications, used to analyse an organisation and its requirements. With the right balance of consultant guidance and support, and client self-examination within ArcWorkbench, this can not only reduce the cost to the client of the Business Transformation exercise, but also improve the quality and acceptability of the project.

Build and Retain a Repository of Process Models. ArcWorkbench provides an environment for building a knowledge base of industry and organisational Business Process models. Entire models or partial models can be exported from a central data repository as the starting point for a Business Transformation project. When a project is completed its developed Process Model can be exported back into the data repository for future use. This gives a virtuous circle for Process Model development, helping to reduce the cost and speed up projects.

Build and Retain a Repository of System Designs. Many Business Transformation projects will involve the implementation of leading enterprise-wide systems, such as Oracle, SAP, IBM Maximo and others. ArcWorkbench can import and retain the design elements of such systems, such that changes to out-of-box design can be closely monitored and controlled, ensuring that any change requirements are fully cost justified, and that changes are supported by a clear audit trail.

Data Migration Scripts. ArcWorkbench can automatically create PL/SQL scripts for migrating data into a new system Database. This can be a significant cost element of a Business Transformation project that requires a skilled development resource. ArcWorkbench can reduce the effort and skill required to undertake this key task, reducing its cost by 80%.

Invitation-to-Tender. Some Business Transformation projects will require management of an Invitation-To-Tender (ITT) process for new Systems and Services. ArcWorkbench incorporates a specific module to support this. ITT Requirements can be generated from Business Model requirements and incorporated into a separate ArcWorkbench application. This application can then be distributed to potential Suppliers for them to record their responses, which can then be imported back into ArcWorkbench. This reduces the effort required in such an exercise and also supports more effective and objective comparison between supplier responses.

Packaged Deliverables. On completion of a project, ArcWorkbench enables the creation of a single-user ArcWorkbench package of the project and all its deliverables, including proprietary methodology documents configured to ArcWorkbench. This ArcWorkbench environment can be provided to the client organisation as a complete and comprehensive package of deliverables for the client to review and keep.
